영어협상: 계약서 다루기

Okay, let’s start by looking at page one. In the first clause, we have the terms of the contract. You can see that this contract will take effect on July 1^st of this year. The contract will be valid for a two year period, which means it will expire on June 30^th, 2008.

Looking at article two, you can see that the requirements for Car Parts, Inc. are outlined. These requirements are simply in regards to the payment terms that we agreed upon. Any questions so far?

A: If you turn the page, section four shows the renewal and termination terms. Here it says that if Car Parts, Inc. would like to renew the contract, Amco Health requires a 30 day notice before the current contract’s expiration date. Both parties must give at least a 45 day notice in the case of termination of the contract terms. However, Amco Health reserves the right to terminate the contract immediately if the payments are not made.

B: Fair enough.

A: Are there any questions before we sign?

B: No, Jim, this looks good me. Sam, do you have anything you want to add?

C: Nope, everything looks fine.

A: Okay, please sign and date here on the line. I’ll sign below that.

B: Done.

A: 페이지를 넘기시면 네 번째 부분에서는 조항의 갱신 및 종결을 설명합니다. 여기 보면 Car Parts 사가 계약을 갱신하고 싶을 때 Amco 건보사에게 현 계약 만료일 최소한 30일전 통보를 하여야 합니다. 계약 조건을 종결하려면 양 측은 최소 45일 통지를 주어야 합니다. 그렇지만 Amco건보사는 만일 보험금이 미납될 경우 계약을 즉시 종결할 수 있는 권리를 보유합니다.

B: 그 정도면 됐군요.
