지난 3년간 다수 대학교 석박사 대상 GPF (Global Ph.D Fellowship)의 1차 서류전형 및 2차 면접 코칭 및 강연 및 모의 면접을 진행해 왔습니다. 워낙 경쟁이 높은 장학금이다 보니 도움을 드린 모든 학생들이 수상의 영광을 누리지는 못했지만 대학강연을 재외한 지난 3년간 개인 코칭으로 진행해 드린 30여명의 박사지원생 중 약 25명이 1차 서류전형에 합격하였고 그중 18명이 2차 면접에 합격하였습니다.

Thank you very much for considering me as a candidate for the 2012 global Ph.D fellowship program. My name is _____________ (a junior/senior/graduate student) from Joongang University currently majoring/specializing in ______________. I’m glad to be able to present my research objectives and expected outcomes. My study area focuses on __________.

 

 

** 연구내용을 스토리화하거나 깜짝 놀랄만한 수치, 슬라이드, 영상자료 등을 소개하여 이목을 집중시킬 수 있다. Rhetorical questions을 적극 활용하자.

 

Let me show you this slide~ I’d like to start with a story of ~ Do you know what this _____ means? What comes across to your mind when you see this? Did you know that~?

 

 

2. 연구목적 (background)

•        Clear purpose/objective:

–       What is it about? (서론에서 결과도 암시)

–       Who is it for?

–       Why is it important?

–       How is this study conducted?

So without a further due, let me elaborate on my research. Let me get to the core part of my presentation There are three main things dealt in my presentation: first, the background, second, the current situation, and lastly, the future implication.

 

 

•        Use key words: 논문목차순서 활용 (keyword, objectives, outcomes à details)

l  주제설명 à 부연설명 à 마무리 순으로 정리

l  연결고리, 앞뒤 관계를 정리해 주는 접속어, 부사 적극 사용

(예: 신규이론, 실험, 연구, 증명된 이론 등을 기반으로 하는 내용)

 

P: Global strategic alliances may end in failure when different cultures collide.  R: Two different cultures and company norms cannot be easily merged. Many case studies prove this argument. E: For example, AT&T and Olivette’s joint venture ended since neither company conducted a thorough needs analysis to fully understand the other side's primary agenda, and the companies never quite clarified their mutual expectations with each other. P: Therefore, cultural understanding should precede any joint venture efforts.

** 한 슬라이드에 이전 연구와 본 연구의 차이점을 비교 분석하는 것도 좋은 방법이다.

비교/대조의 기법을 적극 활용한다.

PART 2: BEHAVIORS/ SPEECH SKILLS

 

1. Body language & Non-verbal communication

 

* A4용지보다는 Q카드를 준비하는 것이 깔끔한 인상을 준다.

* 레이저 컨트롤러의 남용을 주의

 

 

2. Facial ｅxpressions

- 입꼬리의 방향

- Eye contact

- 눈빛

 

3. Speed/ Tone

- 복식호흡연습

- nasal sound

- 목소리톤 찾기

- 6분이란 시간은 충분히 활용할 수 있다. 말이 느려지기보다는 너무 빨라지는 것이 문제이다.

 

3. Accent/ Pronunciation

1. 소리 연결하기(영어의 파동)
2. 끝을 내리기
3. 느림의 미학 (강세는 장세와 여세)
4. 내용어의 강조
5. 불필요한 추임새 습관 고치기(um.. ah..)

PART 3: 인터뷰/PT 노하우

 

1. 영어실력보다 중요한 것은 본인 콘텐트 (연구)에 대한 자부심, 확신이다.

 

2. 콘텐트를 키워드화 (핵심단어화)하자.

3. 콘텐트>태도>영어 순이다.

 

4. 영어실력보다는 자연스러움, 진솔함이 중요하다

 

5. 당황하지 마라

 

6. 욕심부리지 마라.

 

7. Rehearsal, rehearsal, rehearsal!
