시각자료 사용하기

 

시각자료를 사용할 때는 Simple is the best! 라는 사실을 명심하세요. 모든 숫자와 도표를 자세하게 다 보여주기 전에 그 안의 숫자나 수치가 무엇을 의미하는지를 먼저 파악하는 것이 중요합니다. 시각자료의 사용방법에 따라 발표가 매끄럽게 진행되고 청중의 관심과 신뢰를 유도할 수 있습니다.

 

Tips Steve Jobs의 Visual Simplicity       Simple is the Best를 기억하시죠? 시각자료는 복잡해서는 안됩니다. 멀리서도 포인트가 한번에 들어오도록 만드세요. 너무 많은 수치를 제공하거나 문장으로 설명을 줄줄이 써넣는 실수를 하지 않도록 간단명료하게 프레젠테이션 자료를 정리하세요.   Make sure you emphasize the following: -      Do not use visuals to repeat what you can say with words -      Do not overcrowd visuals with too much information -      Do not use too many visuals -      Do not read from the visual.

It would be useful to look at some figures for a moment. Let’s start with turnover. As you can see on this graph, I’ve plotted two lines. The solid line represents the group’s turnover and the broken one represents the sales generated by our subsidiary in Hong Kong. The figures have been converted into dollars and are shown on this axis in thousands.

 

First, let’s look at the group’s turnover. Five years ago it stood at $1.1 million. It rose steadily over the following five years and now stands at $1.45 million. We have forcasted the next five years and we anticipate a flattening out at around $1.5 million as price competition becomes more and more fierce.

잠시 다음 수치를 살펴보는 것이 도움이 될 것 같습니다. 먼저 거래액을 살펴봅시다. 그래프에서 보시다시피 두 개의 선으로 점을 연결해 보았습니다. 직선은 그룹 거래액이고 점선은 홍콩에서의 저희 계열사의 매출액을 나타냅니다. 수치는 달러로 전환되었고 이쪽 축에서 1000단위로 보여드립니다.

자 먼저 저희 그룹의 거래액을 살펴봅시다. 5년 전 110만 달러였지요. 지난 5년 동안 꾸준히 증가하여 지금은 145만 달러입니다. 다음 5년간의 예상금액을 계산해 보았습니다. 약 150만 달러 지점에서 수평으로 돌아갈 것 이라 예상합니다. 가격 경쟁이 점점 더 치열해 지기 때문이지요.
